JB Dillon has arrived. Well, on the internet at least.

Yes, this is a press release, but doing a typical press release really isn’t out style. So here’s what you need to know…

JB Dillon didn’t start life on the internet. In fact, the roots of our company trace back to 1978, in a small Ohio store. The story goes that the owner Rick only had about 40 pairs of boots to sell, but he wanted to make it look like the store was full, so he ordered another 500 empty boxes.

The reason JB Dillon came into existence was really something of a necessity. In February and March of 2020, our parent company’s locations in Youngstown, Nashville, Orlando, Lake City, Sevierville, and Las Vegas started seeing reduced traffic. A few of our locations had to close because of health concerns. (If you have ever been to Boot Factory Outlet or Boot Country, you’re probably familiar with us.)

Rather than getting stuck, the founders of our company decided to take our highest line boots, and put them on the internet. Why? We don’t know when the COVID pandemic will be over, and our factory just keeps on making boots. We have to sell them somewhere.

Our JB Dillon Reserve line is what we feature in our online store. To make it easier, we’re just calling them JB Dillon boots.

What makes a JB Dillon Reserve boots better than other boots? Well, for starters, they’re handmade. When there are people inspecting the manufacturing process at every turn, it means little defects are far less likely. Secondly, the quality of our leather is tough to beat. Our boot factory is located in León, Mexico — usually known as the leather capital of the entire world. You don’t get a reputation like that without having the leather infrastucture to support that claim.

Leather quality is one of those things that we can’t quite put into a press release. Our caiman leather boots have a texture and firmness to them that feel tough, but when you actually put them on, they feel soft. Our top selling Chambers boots feature a full quill ostrich that is almost buttery to the touch.

Then, there’s price. We know who our competitors are in the “premium western style boots” space, and we’re sure you have heard of them. Some of our competitors make great boots — in fact, our factory in León is adjacent to many of brand names you know. Our goal is to make boots that compete with the big name brands, but do it for a lower price.

Our best selling men’s boot is a full quill ostrich boot called the Chambers, and it retails for $395.99. Sure, that’s not a small price, but if you look elsewhere for full quill ostrich boots, you won’t get much change from an $800 bill. Want caiman leather boots? Our competitors will sell you caiman leather, sure… but it’s easy to price them well above $1,200. Our Hitch boots (as of this writing) are only $395.99.

Unfortunately, the boot business is a lot like many other aspects of the fashion and apparel industry: Consumers pay a lot for the name of the brand, rather than the quality of the product. The cool part about boots, is that unlike other forms of footwear, you won’t see a big swoosh, or letters on the side. The only thing that people can see if the quality of the leather, the heel, and if they’re at the right angle — the sole.

So, should you try out a pair of new JB Dillon boots? Heck yes. We have free shipping, and hassle-free returns and exchanges. If you don’t love your boots, you don’t have to keep them. (But we know you will love them. That’s why we feel confident making that claim.)

One last thing: We offer both men’s and women’s styles on our site — it’s something of a legacy of how search engines and product sorting works. We’re not the only boot company selling men’s and women’s boots. But don’t let a gender tag make you be a square peg in a round hole. Shop JB Dillon where you’re most comfortable. The reason we do this is because men’s and women’s sizes are different, so we need to make sure the size charts are what you expect.
